This summer Troop 683 is going to Camp Fiesta Island.  The camp is
on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay.

From the 2nd of August to the 8th of August we were at summer camp.  This year we went to Camp Fiesta Island.   It was a blast doing our merit badges and meeting new people. Well this year the food was great.  We had lots of good food and it was pretty much all you can eat.  We had brisket, ribs, mashed potatoes, and eggs everyday for breakfast, bacon, and other delicious food.  Every day we had a daily schedule. First we would wake up and go to flags and breakfast. Then right after breakfast we went back to camp and soon left for first session and then second and third. After third we would go to lunch. After lunch we would have a break and could go back to camp for an hour or so then we went to our fourth session.  After fourth session we would have free time when we could do whatever we wanted like kayaking, canoeing, swimming, or just hang out at camp. Then after our free time we did camp wide clean up.  In camp wide clean up, all the troops would go to the beach and help clean all of the equipment that was used during the free time.  After camp wide clean up, we went back to camp to get ready for flags and dinner.  After dinner we just went back to camp to relax and get ready to shower.  Then at 11 o’clock it was lights out and everyone went to bed.  On Wednesday we went to the midway, where we saw how life was on a battleship.  We saw war planes and all the different levels of the ship. It was very cool.  After finishing the midway tour we walked around and found a shopping plaza. We stopped and broke off in to groups and went in looking around. We eventually finished and it was time to head back to camp. Friday was our last day of sessions.  It was the same as any other day until it was time for the closing campfire.  During the closing campfire the troops all did their own yells. Then at the end the announcer announced who participated in the honor troop, which we did so we received a small ribbon.  In order to participate in honor troop was not easy, because there were many requirements that we needed to meet before qualifying.  We needed to do well on every campsite inspection, do a service project, do at least on flag ceremony, sing a song with the rest of the camp, say grace once, and do a skit at the closing campfire. We did all of these and so did about five other troops.  Well when the announcer said,” And the honor troop is… troop 683!!!” we all just leaped up and cheered as Ryan received a larger ribbon that read,” HONOR TROOP CAMP FIESTA ISLAND.”  It was a great night.  The next day was our last and we packed up and left. In all it was a great week and we all had a ton of fun!!!
